It is important to know how to correctly clean your tote bag so you can keep it as good as new for years to come. We don’t recommend washing a cotton canvas because it may lose its shape and shrink.
However, we understand that sometimes a tote can need to be washed. If the tote needs a wash we’d recommend hand-washing it inside-out with cold water and line-dried.
Hand Washing
- Empty all contents from the bag. A lint roller can be a great way to remove any debris left on the inside or outside of your bag.
- Ensure you're using cool water and gentle detergent to wash the bag. Cotton canvas totes that are exposed to heat tends to shrink.
- Ensure the bag is rinsed thoroughly. Leaving soap on your bag is the last thing you want when you're about to dry it out.
- To dry, do not use a dryer or hairdryer to speed up the drying process. Air dry as much as possible and turn your bag inside out.
